Early on Thursday morning, someone banged on the door of Ashley Jones’ home in Anderson County, South Carolina. The mother of three asked the person to identify themselves, and when she heard no response, she called 911 and grabbed her gun. She came downstairs and saw a man knocking on her window.
Jones yelled, “I have a gun, I will shoot you, get away from my house.” Then, according to FOX Carolina:
She said the man and a second person then went to the back of the house and tried to enter through the back door. Then, they went to the garage before coming back to the front door.
That’s when Jones said the man kicked in the front door, and she pulled the trigger. She said the bullet hit the man, and he ran off.
Jones told the media, “I would’ve killed him if I had to.”
Police officials praised Jones for the responsible use of her firearm, for which she has received proper training. The primary suspect in the break-in is in stable condition, and both would-be intruders are now facing charges.
