SESSIONS TERMINATES US POLICY THAT LET LEGAL POT FLOURISH

When Obama was president, there was a policy that allowed the of prosecuting marijuana to be more lenient in states where it was legalized. Now, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has called for change, by leaving it up to federal prosecutors to decide what to do if federal drug laws and state rules contradict.

Sessions’ action, just three days after a legalization law went into effect in California, threatened the future of the young industry, created confusion in states where the drug is legal and outraged both marijuana advocates and some members of Congress, including Sessions’ fellow Republicans. Many conservatives are wary of what they see as federal intrusion in areas they believe must be left to the states.

Right-wing talk show host, Joe Walsh, tweeted his disapproval, saying”Dear Jeff Sessions: There are greater issues facing America than marijuana. If the states have decided to legalize it for medical or recreational use, that’s their right. Instead, focus on the illegals committing crimes & killing Americans in sanctuary cities & sanctuary states.”
