A robot vacuum is a great way to keep your floors clean at home, but finding the right robot for the job can be challenging. There are all kinds of robot vacuums on the market with various features and capabilities.
With so many options available, it’s important to consider a few things before choosing a model. First, it’s best to determine how much you’re willing to spend. Next, measure the size of your home and check many rooms you’ll need to clean. Last, since dust is a common air pollutant, consider the types of floors you have that are prone to dust. Is your home carpeted? Do you have hardwood, tile, or linoleum floors?
After considering those factors, you can check online to see the available models with their pros and cons. In no particular order, here are our top picks for the best robot vacuums this year:
Roborock S7 MaxV
The Roborock S7 MaxV is just like the original Roborock S7 we tested, but with some upgrades. It now has a larger dustbin and an upgraded motor that can spin its side brushes faster, improving its performance on carpeted floors. We’ve never been huge fans of robot vacuums since most don’t work well and will often get stuck or fall down stairs when navigating your home. However, the updated mapping system on this vacuum gives it a leg up over other models we’ve tried.
The Roborock S7 has excellent performance on bare floor surfaces. It is also good at picking up pet hair. However, this robot vacuum cleaner is not suitable for cleaning high-pile carpets, stairs, or cars.
iRobot Roomba i3 EVO
Discover the groundbreaking technology of Roomba i3 EVO, now with enhanced cleaning performance. The robot vacuum uses an extra set of brushes that work together with the spinning side brush to loosen dirt and hair from carpets before suctioning it into the dust bin. Schedule Roomba i3 EVO to clean up several times a week, so you always come home to a fresh, clean home.
The iRobot Roomba i3 EVO does a beautiful job cleaning. We found that it picks up hair and dirt efficiently. It works best on hard floors, but it can also function reasonably well on the carpet (though we don’t recommend leaving it to run there unattended). It is easy to schedule, empty, and clean; plus, its app allows for customization and remote operation.
Roborock Q5
With a slim, stylish frame and colorful shell, the Roborock Q5 looks better than many competitors. It’s even equipped with a UV light that helps to kill off bacteria on hard floors. Most crucially, the Roborock Q5 was one of the best cleaning robots we tested. It got into corners and cleaned along edges effectively, plus it brushed up against walls less frequently than other models.
Overall, the Roborock app is more straightforward. We had no problems utilizing voice commands through Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri Shortcuts. It also comes with a bigger dustbin and a battery that lasts twice as long as the Roomba i3 EVO. Despite these advantages, the Q5 is a somewhat weaker cleaner than the i3 EVO, particularly on the carpet.
